Tuesday May 25, 2010I talked about Typography in your home yesterday and then I came across these fun accessories for your home using type. The wonderful thing about Typography is it adds a fun graphic nature to your home & wardrobe. Here are a few fun new products out on the market.
A fun bracelet! I love the color combination of red, white, & gold.
A sponge that makes cleaning a little more interesting. Why not use beautiful cleaning supplies?
Cookie Cutter's in the alphabet. A great way to spell something out or even accent a name or event.
For those who really love typography, why not do a wall or room out of this wallcovering.
A typography plate that adds a graphic accent to any table setting.

Typography in your Home

Monday May 24, 2010
Typography makes for a unique graphic touch to your home. It's so fun because you can add a whimsical feeling to any space. One thing I really love about using typography in your home is it adds a personal touch. You can use letters to give a wall your brand or name. With art you can use it to be inspired by a saying or phrase that really motivates you or makes you laugh. I think it is a great way to be surrounded by something really personal. Here are a few images using typography in your home.

Florist to the Stars

Friday May 21, 2010
I had the honor of attending a wonderful luncheon today at The Botanical Center. One of my clients invited me and I had a great time meeting all her friends. It was so much fun and the perfect thing to do on a Friday. The fundraiser was for the Des Moines Botanical Center. They had a really great mix of silent auction packages, I was lucky enough to even get one! The highlight of the event was the talk given by Kimm Birkicht, with The Velvet Garden in Los Angeles. The Velvet Garden has a client list of the hip Hollywood crowd. Not too many people can say they know what Jennifer Aniston's favorite flowers are or what George Clooney's centerpieces looked like at his New Years Party. Kimm continued to show us her impressive portfolio of arrangements all uniquely designed with a sense of tranquility, innovation, & luxury. We were even lucky enough to get a special demonstration on how to create a arrangement. Kimm grew up in Iowa so it was great to have her come back and speak to the sold out group! Here are a few images of The Velvet Garden's work:
A beautiful Centerpiece!
Kimm being creative in her workroom.
The top left picture is a handmade fan. Wouldn't you love to sit at a wedding with a fan like this?
This is a 25' table wrapped in moss. How romantic!
All proceeds for today's event went to The Des Moines Botanical Center. A special Thank You to the committee involved to help put together this amazing event! Have a great weekend!

Gator in your home.

Friday- May 14, 2010

What do you think about having a little alligator in your home? Well, if your open to the idea I have a beautiful wall covering for you! This unique application has the look & texture of alligator skin. I like the idea of this wall covering because it adds texture, interest, & depth to the room. How fun would it be to do this in your home? It would even look wonderful in a accent powder bathroom. I like these two pictures because they show 2 very different applications with this paper. A very transitional room & also a rustic space. Have a great weekend!

A Timeless Home

Tuesday- May 11, 2010
I recently came across this home in Traditional Home and loved everything about it. I think one of the things I really like about this home is it's timeless feel. The architecture & materials in all of the spaces have the feeling that they have been around for decades. This home has a wonderful classic look & I can definitely see myself living here. I love so many things about this home but I really like the mix of traditional elements that have been updated.
This formal living room has a beautiful blend of traditional elements while still maintaining a light & airy feel.
The color combination in these drapes as well as the treatment style is really unique!
What a stunning floor! It really gives the space character.
One of my favorite details in a study is when you build a sofa into the space. A great look!!
I really like how this home has traditional spaces mixed in with this lighter more colorful room!
The artwork makes for an exceptional backdrop to this great room.
A beautiful vignette to the end of a hallway! I'm sure they keep these doors open often!
Another great sitting area.
