Color of the Moment-Chartreuse & Gray

Monday- February 22, 2010
I can't seem to get enough of this color combination! I really like how bold but calming these colors work together! The layers of gray tones help create a nice level of depth in the room! This is a color combination I am really loving right now!

Designer Spotlight- Kelly Wearstler's Home

Wednesday - February 17, 2010
Kelly Wearstler continues to amaze me! Her use of color, pattern, & style are so inspiring! I know I have already talked about Kelly a few times on Living in Style but I recently came across some pictures of her home that I had never seen before. I appreciate Kelly for many things but I really love the way she applies very classic details with modern touches. I think all of the moldings in this house are quite lovely! This is her personal home in

My Bedroom Inspiration

Wednesday February 10, 2010

A couple weeks ago I talked about water, seashells, and how I find inspiration in all things that deal with the sea. I fell at peace when I am surrounded by those feelings and this is the feeling I want to create in David & my bedroom. I want it to be very cool, tranquil, & relaxing. These are a few of the images that I have drawn from to help capture the feeling of our bedroom.

I love this relaxing palette and the layers of soft aqua colors.
This bedroom was done by Tobi Fairley and was featured in Traditional Home. This has been a favorite image of mine!

The texture of the luxurious silk is wonderful!
I really like this armoire. I like the application of the fabric in the doors.
I like the shape of this headboard and overall composition of this room! I appreciate this room but it is more masculine than what I would like to achieve.
Although this isn't a bedroom this is exactly the feel I want for my room. Soft, cool, & relaxing.

Tuesday's Top 10- Beds

Tuesday- February 9, 2010

This week's Top 10 is dedicated to beds. As I talked about yesterday I am working on some things for our bedroom and a new bed is part of the plan. This list is exclusive to the 10 beds that were narrowed down for my personal search. Their are so many wonderful beds out on the market but this list includes only the style that I am after. As you can see all of these beds are somewhat consistent, which is what makes my decision very difficult. I am looking for an upholstered bed and I really like the idea of incorporating some wood in the bed too! So here are my top 10 picks for my bed!
10) Northport Bed, Kravet Furniture
I love the height on this bed!
9) Caperana Bed, Century Furniture
I like the unusual platform styling of this bed.
8) Devonshire Bed, Lillian August for Hickory White
I've always really liked a tufted bed and this one is well shaped. I also like how this tufted bed has the feeling of a sleigh bed.
7) Dane Upholstered Bed, Baker Furniture
I really like the proportions on this bed. I think it is very sophisticated!
6) Montauk Bed, Hickory Chair
This bed is very elegant!
5) Continental Classics Bed, Hickory White
I really like the way the sides of this bed come around. It really encloses the bed in!
4) Chelsea Bed, Hickory Chair
The wood frame of this bed is nice and I love the soft curve of the headboard.
3) Soho Bed, Hickory Chair
I saw this bed at market and fell in love with it! It has a classic look that is in many of my inspiration pictures. (I'll be sharing those tomorrow)
2) Metropolitan Classics Bed, Hickory White
I really like this bed because it has a mix of the 2 styles that I really like. It has a nice wood frame & I also really like the graceful lines on the headboard!
1) Venetian Bed, Hickory Chair
I have always love this bed and keep coming back to it! I like the idea of taking a traditional bed and adding a really contemporary print to it. I question myself if I will get tired of the distinctive look?? I then remind myself that this style is a replica of French & Italian designs that have been around forever.

Hmmm.... Now it's decision time!

A Week of Bedrooms!

Monday- February 8, 2010
I have been working on getting some new things for our bedroom so this week I've decided to share some of my ideas with you! It has been quite the process, and I have really looked through lots of options. Another problem is I have so many styles that I like and I can't decide which direction to go...
Should I be really feminine and accent in pink....
Or go for a more simple & elegant look. I appreciate this neutral soft scheme.
Or shall I go masculine & eclectic?
Or maybe do something really dramatic and go with lots of draping??

I have a lot of really good ideas to share with you this week & am excited to show you my design decisions! Have a great week!

Great Room- Installation

Wednesday- February 3, 2010
I love my job! I love it for many reasons but one of the reasons is I get to meet wonderful families & help make their lives more beautiful! I have been working with the most adorable family & working on their great room. When I first met with them they had this large living room that they weren't using. They had a room full of furniture but it wasn't working for their needs. So, we worked on some floor plans, re-arranged the space, and identified new areas. Our new goal was to create a room that the whole family could spend time in. We broke the room into 3 areas. A relaxing area by the fireplace, another area to sit and watch t.v., and a third area for the kids to play while still looking pretty. The room had a very neutral base so we decided to add the accent of green & throw in some fun patterns in other areas.
A close up of the new pieces that we just delivered! I love the fun patterns but the green game table is the best accent! We were able to pick a Benjamin Moore paint color and they matched the table to it! This young family wanted an area they could have game night, color, & play!
The view looking the other way in the room.
The couple had great artwork to work around and use in the room. It is a wonderful way to bring color into the space. I love the story the day I accessorized the bookshelves. The kids came home and loved the monkeys. In fact I think they said, "Mom, we have to keep the monkeys!" How cute and personal for them!

Another view looking into the room which shows off the accent of green in the space! I think this room has a nice energy of family fun, while still being very sophisticated!
