Tuesday's Top 10- Eglomise

Tuesday- March 9, 2010

Today's Top 10 List is a favorite of mine, eglomise furniture. Today we are featuring the Top Eglomise pieces for the home. I am always drawn to mirrored pieces of furniture! The technique of eglomise dates back to the late Antiquity & was translated into early Christian tradition. The term eglomise is a process where the backside of the glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf. It has appeared in paintings, furniture, jewelry, & home accents. Here are my Top 10 pieces of Eglomise for your home:
10) Art Deco Screen
A beautiful gold & silver 2 panel screen. A wonderful accent to any corner!
9) Antique Mirror Chest of Drawers
A night stand? entry chest? or maybe just a great accent in your room? The proportions of this chest are great for so many spaces!

8) Parker Webbed Sconce
This striking web design is inspired by the French 30's. A pattern that often occurs in
neo-classical decoration & has been transformed into this dimensional sconce!
7) Perlini Mirror
Using an antiqued mirror in your room gives it an elegant presence!
6) Pagoda Etagere
This etagere has magnificent Chinese influences! It features antique mirrored shelves, resting upon stylized bamboo posts.

Tuesday's Top 10- Beds

Tuesday- February 9, 2010

This week's Top 10 is dedicated to beds. As I talked about yesterday I am working on some things for our bedroom and a new bed is part of the plan. This list is exclusive to the 10 beds that were narrowed down for my personal search. Their are so many wonderful beds out on the market but this list includes only the style that I am after. As you can see all of these beds are somewhat consistent, which is what makes my decision very difficult. I am looking for an upholstered bed and I really like the idea of incorporating some wood in the bed too! So here are my top 10 picks for my bed!
10) Northport Bed, Kravet Furniture
I love the height on this bed!
9) Caperana Bed, Century Furniture
I like the unusual platform styling of this bed.
8) Devonshire Bed, Lillian August for Hickory White
I've always really liked a tufted bed and this one is well shaped. I also like how this tufted bed has the feeling of a sleigh bed.
7) Dane Upholstered Bed, Baker Furniture
I really like the proportions on this bed. I think it is very sophisticated!
6) Montauk Bed, Hickory Chair
This bed is very elegant!
5) Continental Classics Bed, Hickory White
I really like the way the sides of this bed come around. It really encloses the bed in!
4) Chelsea Bed, Hickory Chair
The wood frame of this bed is nice and I love the soft curve of the headboard.
3) Soho Bed, Hickory Chair
I saw this bed at market and fell in love with it! It has a classic look that is in many of my inspiration pictures. (I'll be sharing those tomorrow)
2) Metropolitan Classics Bed, Hickory White
I really like this bed because it has a mix of the 2 styles that I really like. It has a nice wood frame & I also really like the graceful lines on the headboard!
1) Venetian Bed, Hickory Chair
I have always love this bed and keep coming back to it! I like the idea of taking a traditional bed and adding a really contemporary print to it. I question myself if I will get tired of the distinctive look?? I then remind myself that this style is a replica of French & Italian designs that have been around forever.

Hmmm.... Now it's decision time!

The shape & dimension of this mirror make it very unique!

6) Phoebe, Made Goods
I love this mirror because of it's unusual application! A told tone chinoiserie style tree gracefully branches through four individually framed panels.
5) Perlini Mirror, Hickory Chair
The size & shape of this mirror makes it so versatile. It is a lightly antiqued round mirror, surrounded by more heavily antiqued mirror.
4) Erastos Mirror Made Goods
A scrumptious piece! Warm aged velvet is hand beaded in a classic Greek Key pattern making it a very unique mirror!
3) Dauphine Upholstered Mirror Hickory Chair
This mirror makes the top of my list because of the many applications you can do with this mirror. The border on this mirror has the ability to be upholstered in any fabric or leather you wish to apply to it! This makes it a go to mirror in my book! It is inspired by classic antique paneled mirrors.
2) Constellation Mirror, Baker Furniture
This has long been a favorite mirror of mine! It is shimmering and really beautiful in size and material! The antiqued mirrored discs vary in size and are woven onto extending gold threads making the sunburst pattern.
This mirror makes the top of my list for many reasons but the top one being it has such a beautiful presence. This mirror can go in any type of room and make an incredible statement! It is an ethnic masterpiece. A dramatic wooden frame that is covered in silver metal. The metal is hammered and etched with intricate floral patterns. It is then antiqued and polished! This mirror is a true jewel!
