One more ruffle

Wednesday March 31, 2010
The new Traditional Home was delivered over the weekend and it featured this fabulous house in San Francisco. I talked about my love of ruffles on Monday and I adore this ruffle detail on the window treatments. What a unique application to a beautiful silk fabric! I also really love everything about this room, the use of color, gray painted molding, and the spectacular wallcovering. I'm thinking I might need to feature this entire home!

Ruffles

Monday- March 29, 2010
I am not afraid to admit that I am a girly girl and I love ruffles! I think ruffles are so pretty and can be done so successfully. You can use ruffles in so many different applications. Ruffles are fun to use as a feminine touch in a room or you can also make more of a statement with them. Here are a few wonderful ruffled pictures!
The ruffles on these window treatments have a beautiful presence in the room.
Ruffle dishes on a ruffled table skirt, what a wonderful way to enjoy a treat!
The simple ruffle on a sofa changes the look of this classic space.
I love to wear ruffles too! This model is wearing a beautiful top, plus the bench she is sitting on is pretty wonderful as well!
A spectacular grouping of ruffled pillows. Adding a ruffled pillow on a bed or sofa is an easy way to make a room a little more feminine!
A fresh look in the bathroom, a ruffled shower curtain!

The ruffles on the chairs make for a great detail in this room!

I'm Loving.....

Wednesday- March 24, 2010
I'm currently loving the new collection of fabrics from Ardecora by Zimmer & Rohde. Our rep was in last week showing us the new collection and our samples already arrived today. This spectacular silk stripe was one of my favorites from the collection. It is inspired by ikat & is embroidered with sequins. The picture above shows it installed as window treatments. It is so sophisticated. It came in quite a few colorways including my favorite:

This beautiful red combination. So rich & luxurious!
The neutral is very classic as well. I am looking forward to share some more beautiful fabrics with you!

A Fresh Clean Look!

Tuesday March 23, 2010

Spring Cleaning was in full swing at my home over the weekend. Not only did we get into deep cleaning, but it inspired me to give my home a Spring transformation! A fresh new look was introduced with the decorations & pillows. It also got me wanting a fresh clean look like the kitchen above. I'd love to be cooking in a beautiful kitchen like this! All that is missing is a collection of ginger jars.

I couldn't be more excited to have Spring officially here! The long winter is behind us now and the signs of Spring have begun! I've already gotten to enjoy the sun and longer days. I've also noticed some green budding from the ground. Soon we'll have the beautiful lilacs & other beautiful Spring colors!

Academy Award Inspiration

Wednesday- March 10, 2010
You know how sometimes you see something and you can't get it out of your head? I have been doing that the last couple days. I saw Cameron Diaz at The Academy Awards and I loved her dress. In fact I thought she was styled perfectly. Her hair, makeup, & dress were all very classic. I am a big fan of Cameron as an actress which might be why I thought she looked so stunning! Her dress was by the one & only Oscar de la Renta.
So often I think fashion translates so well into interiors. I think this room is a perfect representation of Cameron's classic look! Wouldn't you love to be watching the Oscars in this room? I know I would!
Then... she hit the after parties in this wonderful number by Victoria Beckham. I think this dress is also a fabulous dress!

Tuesday's Top 10- Eglomise

Tuesday- March 9, 2010

Today's Top 10 List is a favorite of mine, eglomise furniture. Today we are featuring the Top Eglomise pieces for the home. I am always drawn to mirrored pieces of furniture! The technique of eglomise dates back to the late Antiquity & was translated into early Christian tradition. The term eglomise is a process where the backside of the glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf. It has appeared in paintings, furniture, jewelry, & home accents. Here are my Top 10 pieces of Eglomise for your home:
10) Art Deco Screen
A beautiful gold & silver 2 panel screen. A wonderful accent to any corner!
9) Antique Mirror Chest of Drawers
A night stand? entry chest? or maybe just a great accent in your room? The proportions of this chest are great for so many spaces!

8) Parker Webbed Sconce
This striking web design is inspired by the French 30's. A pattern that often occurs in
neo-classical decoration & has been transformed into this dimensional sconce!
7) Perlini Mirror
Using an antiqued mirror in your room gives it an elegant presence!
6) Pagoda Etagere
This etagere has magnificent Chinese influences! It features antique mirrored shelves, resting upon stylized bamboo posts.
5) Chest of Drawers
You don't see this application everyday! I love the mirrored inlay on this mahogany bow front chest.
4) Eglomise Cocktail Table
A cocktail table is a wonderful way to add the the glamour of mirror into your home!
3) Arlington Bed
A wonderful statement in any bedroom!

2) Console
This eglomise console table is a superb table for any hall!
1) Bar Cabinet
A truly stunning piece of furniture! This cabinet is a great multifunctional piece in any home! I think this piece is as beautiful open as it is closed. The antique mirror on the inside makes it oh so glamorous!
